Ambassador of Vietnam to Singapore

His Excellency Mai Phuoc Dung
Ambassador of Vietnam to Singapore

I would like to extend my hearties congratulations to the Singapore Fruits & Vegetable Importers and Exporters Association (SFVIEA) on the publication of your Members’ Directory 2025/2026 and my greetings to the all esteemed members of SFVIEA through this directory.

Known as an agricultural country, Vietnam is proud to be one of the leading countries in the production and export fruits and vegetables in ASEAN region. Every year, Vietnam exports around SGD 6 billion for edible vegetables, tubers, fruits and nuts and has a tendency to grow sustainably. Just in the first 9 months of the year 2024, our total export turnover of fruits and vegetable has reached nearly SGD 7.5 billion, the same amount of our export of this commodity in 2023. Experts predict that with the current momentum and growth, Vietnamese fruits and vegetables can reach a record export turnover of over SGD 9 billion by the end of this year.

The quality, value for money, freshness and taste of Vietnam’s fruits and vegetable has been officially served even the most demanding markets such as EU, Japan, Korea, The United State…Durian, dragon fruit, banana, lychee, sweet potato… are some main products that contribute the most to fruits and vegetable export growth of Vietnam. Besides, we have grown a great variety of other fruits such as watermelon, musk, longan, orange, pineapple, star fruits… as well as vegetables like avocado, artichoke, mushroom, tomatoes, cucumber, cabbage, eggplants, green bean, pumpkins… Vietnam producers have researched and invested a lot in agricultural technology to improve the quality of our fruits and vegetable. We are now also producing more products that are certified organic to meet higher expectation from customers.

Singapore is also one of our most important and reliable trading partner, particularly in the agriculture and fresh produce sectors. In the period from 2021 – 2023, Vietnam annually export around SGD 62 million of fruits and vegetable on average to Singapore. Already, we can find various fruits such as pomelo, lychee, guava, passion fruits, mango… of Vietnam in Singapore super markets.

Vietnam’s high-quality fruits and vegetables have increasingly found their way onto Singaporean plates, thanks in no small part to the efforts of SFVIEA, in close collaboration with Vietnam Embassy, especially Viet Nam Trade Office in Singapore over the last four decades. As a key player in the facilitation of fresh and healthy products to meet the demands of Singapore’s customers, SFVIEA has actively organized many effective trade promotion activities to find and connect reputable partners, quality suppliers and potential buyers such as organizing business missions, trade events, webinar business matching events… With this new directory, SFVIEA has provided an invaluable resource for businesses both in Singapore and abroad, a critical tool for all members and partner in updating latest trends and developments in the fresh fruits and vegetable industry as well as comprehensive information on your members’ profiles and contact detail.

In the August 2024, Viet Nam Trade Office in Singapore has supported the delegation of SFA and members of SFVIEA to survey and diversify the supply chain from Vietnam for a week. We hope that there will be a delegation to Vietnam every year from now on.

As the Ambassador of Vietnam to Singapore, I am proud to witness the ever-growing partnership between our countries and trust that this directory will serve as a platform for the exchange of ideas on sustainable practices, innovation in logistics, and the use of technology to improve the supply chain, especially in fresh fruit and vegetable business.

The market capacity of vegetables and fruits between Vietnam and Singapore remains still very large. I look forward to closer cooperation and fruitful outcomes that will emerge from the connections SFVIEA helps to foster, not only between businesses in Singapore but also across the broader region. The Embassy of Vietnam in Singapore is keen to support the strengthening of existing and potential links between Viet Nam and Singaporean companies to achieve the balanced and sustainable development of both countries.

I wish SFVIEA and its members all the best of success!
