His Excellency Mr Jonathan Eric Kaplan
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary
The Embassy of the United States of America and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) are pleased to work with the Singapore Fruits & Vegetables Importers & Exporters Association (SFVIEA) in supporting SFVIEA’s efforts to support Singapore’s robust agricultural trade. The United States was Singapore’s 6th largest supplier of consumer-oriented food and beverage products and the 5th largest supplier of fresh fruits in 2023. We greatly appreciate the pivotal role SFVIEA member companies play in introducing U.S. products to Singapore consumers. I commend the SFVIEA for its efforts to grow and develop the fruit and vegetable trade industry in Singapore.
The FAS Office in Singapore, part of a network of nearly 100 FAS offices worldwide, works to link high quality U.S. agricultural products to our global customers. Along with working closely with local governments on trade policy and regulatory issues, FAS partners with several U.S. fruit and vegetable associations to promote their products in the Singapore market. The strong bond SFVIEA members have developed with these trade associations, including the California Table Grape Commission, Washington State Fruit Commission (Northwest Cherries), the Washington Apple Commission, Sunkist Growers, Idaho Potato Commission, and the U.S. Apple Export Council, has benefitted the food and agricultural industries in both of our countries.
We thank all the officials and members of the SFVIEA for the years of friendship, business, communication, and cooperation. We look forward to continuing our close relationship with SFVIEA in the coming years!
