58th SFVIEA Inauguration Ceremony & Dinner

The 58th SFVIEA Inauguration Ceremony & Dinner was successfully held on 26 June 2026 at Chui Huay Lim Teochew Cuisine Restaurant.

The prestigious occasion brought together SFVIEA committee members, members, advertisers featured in the 57th Members’ Directory, representatives from various high commissions and embassies, as well as representatives from government agencies and trade associations. The event was attended by more than 70 guests.

SFVIEA was honoured to have Mr Desmond Lee, Minister for Education and Advisor to SFVIEA, grace the occasion as the Guest of Honour.

The success of the 58th SFVIEA Inauguration Ceremony & Dinner was made possible through the generous support, commitment, and dedicated efforts of the organising committee members. Their invaluable contributions and teamwork played a significant role in making the event a memorable and meaningful occasion.

Meeting with Nantou County Government at FHA 2026

During FHA 2026, SFVIEA Chairman Mr. Tay Khiam Back and Assistant Secretary Mr. Alun Zhou met with a delegation from the Nantou County Government, Taiwan, at the Nantou Pavilion (Hall 8, Booth 8G2-07).

The delegation comprised Mr. Yin-Wei Tseng, Deputy Director of the Agriculture Division, Nantou County Government; Ms. Yu-Chieh Huang, Section Chief of the Marketing Planning Section, Department of Agriculture; and Ms. Yi-Ting Liao, Staff Member of the Marketing Planning Section, Department of Agriculture.

The meeting provided an opportunity to strengthen connections, exchange insights on agricultural trade, and explore potential areas of cooperation between Nantou County and Singapore’s fresh produce industry.

Mexican Delegation from Michoacán Visits SFVIEA

On 12 March 2026, the Embassy of Mexico in Singapore led a delegation from Michoacán on a visit to the Singapore Fruits and Vegetable Importers and Exporters Association (SFVIEA).

Mr. Daniel Tay, representing the Chairman of SFVIEA, together with the association’s council members, welcomed the delegation. Both sides discussed opportunities to strengthen trade and cooperation between Singapore and Mexico.

Michoacán is one of Mexico’s leading agricultural states, known for producing avocados, honey, limes, berries, and other fresh produce.

The delegation included:

  • Ms. Omega Vázquez, Economic Development Coordinator for the State of Michoacán
  • Dr. Mario Calderon, Trade Commissioner, Embassy of Mexico in Singapore
  • Mr. Gerson Garduño, CEO, Singapore–Mexico Chamber of Commerce
  • Ms. Maria del Mar Magaña, Head of the Western Chapter, Singapore–Mexico Chamber of Commerce

The visit provided a valuable platform to explore future collaboration and strengthen agricultural trade ties between Singapore and Mexico.

Meeting the Brunei Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT)

On 6 January 2026, Vice Chairman Tai Seng Yee, Secretary John Lim, Treasurer Tony Lim, and Committee Member Sunny met with the Brunei Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) at Royal Plaza on Scotts, Singapore. The meeting aimed to promote Bruneian fruits, vegetables, and processed food products to Singapore distributors, traders, and retailers, with participation from the Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) and Royal Brunei Culinary (RBC)/Ghanim.

Uzbek Food Exhibition at Marina Square

The Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Singapore organized an Exhibition of Uzbek fresh and dried fruits, vegetables, and processed foods from 17–18 October 2025 at Marina Square.

The exhibition featured a wide range of high-quality products from leading Uzbek producers. SFVIEA was invited to the opening ceremony, and member companies were welcomed to explore the products, meet producers, and discuss potential cooperation opportunities.

Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Festival 2025

 

On July 18, 2025, the Trade Office of the Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore, in collaboration with the Singapore Fruits and Vegetables Importers and Exporters Association (SFVIEA), hosted the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Festival 2025. The event aimed to boost export opportunities for Vietnamese businesses and strengthen their presence in international markets, particularly in Singapore.

Mr. Jerry Tan Soon Huat, Vice Chairman of SFVIEA, opened the event with a welcome address emphasizing the importance of deepening trade ties between Vietnam and Singapore. Fellow Vice Chairman Mr. Tai Seng Yee provided insights into Singapore’s market demands, stressing the importance of product quality, as well as highlighting local consumer preferences and dietary trends.
